Steve Pretty: The Origin of the Pieces

The Origin of the Pieces is a collaborative podcast by Steve Pretty, made for anyone who has ever listened to, played, improvised, written or just enjoyed music. It's a show about what music is, where it comes from and why it exists, all to help people understand music in a new way.

Steve Pretty is a professional musician known for the trumpet and, more recently, the conch. He co-runs Hackney Colliery Band and works as a musical director and composer, with all sorts of other talents up his sleeve.

On stage, Steve is joined by special musical friends for the adventure. You don't need to read music or play a note. If you've ever hummed along to anything, you're qualified. Conch skills entirely optional.
