Wabi-Sabi Pottery

Wabi-sabi, loosely translated, is the beauty of imperfection.
Learn fundamental hand-building techniques as you create a stunning ceramic wabi-sabi object from scratch. Your teacher will provide demonstrations and cover how you can use clay to deal with the stress and anxiety of everyday life and appreciate the states of flux and imperfection represented in your piece. You’ll learn a range of pottery techniques including pinch pots, sculpting & surface decoration across the wabi-sabi theme.

Tree Climbing

Marvel at an hour of safe, respectful tree climbing like no other. Climb to our highest branch and ring the Cowbell of victory, scale the Chesterfield sofa for the best seat in or out of the house, hang out in a Sky-Pod tree tent, or swing around the wondrous canopy of our mighty climbing Beech to find out what other surprises are waiting up there.

Tie Dye

Produce your own tie-dye creation with fashion designers. All dyes and equipment are provided. Bring a cotton garment to upcycle or purchase a t-shirt on site.

Our expert coaches will give you a bouncy cardiovascular workout, scientifically proven to be good for you!

Tai Chi Qigong for everyone seeking stillness in motion. Using ancient traditional techniques of visualising breathing and movement, this will bring greater harmony and well-being to our greater self.

Swing Dancing

Think you have two left feet? No fear, our wonderful Swing Dance teachers, experts in everything Swing, from the Charleston to Lindy Hop, will soon having you swinging through joyful dances from the 20s to the 50s. Even if you’re a total beginner, this energising and uplifting class will have you jumping through the steps and joining in our swing dance flash mobs in a jiffy.

Stunts

Learn how to recreate your favourite action movie chase scene on our new stunt rig, complete with airbag. We are bringing new levels of fun; jumping, falling, dodging, vaulting, climbing, balancing and of course flips and tricks throughout every workshop.

Stilt Walking

Get to grips with the surprisingly ancient art of stilt walking in this introductory class. Our circus professionals will teach you the basics with a range of different height stilts, to work your way up, depending on how balanced and brave you’re feeling.

Stand Up Paddleboarding

Walk on water. Who is going to fall? Captain your own paddleboard and experience the fun of the Wildkind Lake. Hold your paddle high like Poseidon as you master the water. You will learn to be a fearless paddler in a new aqua environment, boost your balancing skills and take part in fun wobble challenges!

Stop Motion Animation

The animation technique behind some of the world’s best loved films, like Wallace & Gromit, Nightmare Before Christmas and Fantastic Mr Fox. You will be taught how to storyboard and create your own short film using modelling clay and other materials, in front of a green screen or your own created backdrop.

Sound Bath

Ease gently into your morning in the forest, with a deeply relaxing meditative sound bath. using traditional intruments with a variety of frequencies to soothe your body and mind.

Sign Language

Learn the basics of British Sign Language. You will be able to sign your name, sign the date, how old you are, how you are feeling, plus colours. Also, you’ll learn to sign a well known song!

Shelter Building

Join us in the Wildkind Forest for a fun natural shelter building activity. Learn about the elements of survival, the importance of shelter building, things to be aware of when creating shelter in woodlands and the take time to construct an A-frame natural shelter.

Screen Printing

Learn expert screen printing techniques whilst printing your own Wildfire shirt. You can buy a tshirt or tote bag at Camp from Wildkind Stores, or bring your own to print.

Scavenger Hunt

You’ll need the eyes of a hawk, the stealth of a squirrel, the stubbornness of a badger and the wiley skills of a fox to scavenge all the hidden goodies in order to win this woodland hunt.

Rifle Shooting

Shooting at 15-20 metre targets with 177 break barrel rifles, open and telescopic sights.

Raft Building

Forget white water rafting…building and sailing your own raft is by far the more adventurous sport. Once our experienced instructors have shown you the ropes (and the barrels and poles), compete in teams to build the most seaworthy raft then sail it across the Wildkind Lake, without getting shipwrecked.

Quad Biking

Drive around the beautiful Wildkind Forest paths on a quad bike. Ride through the different terrains and prepare to get muddy as you ride a pre-set oval circuit between 400 and 500 metres around Camp.

Pole Dancing

Move over J-Lo, it’s our turn to have a go on the pole. You will learn cool tricks, flexibility moves, small routines, spins and fun moves. Suitable for beginners and all levels of fitness and strength.

Pinhole Cameras

Make your own camera from recycled objects found around the site! Then develop the images using plants from around the camp. Each participant will build thier own pin-hole camera, make it light tight and ready for use. They will then make a couple of image exposures onto photographic paper using their camera and develop the paper prints in a plant-based low toxicity developer.

Pétanque

With dexterity and strategy in play, who will be the pétanque champion?!

Pennant Flag Making

Make your very own one-of-a-kind Camp souvenir – a beautiful felt pennant to hang on your wall. Using felt (and templates, if you need) you can cut and compose shapes and text to form your own motto, Patrol mantra or motif to remember your time at Camp Wildfire. (20 people can join at a time).

Origami

The Japanese art of paper folding, Origami, is not only an artistic and ancient practise, it has also been shown to promote relaxation and creative thinking. It helps the brain to quieten and facilitates a calmer emotional state. In this workshop you will build up from the basics of origami to create your very own patrol animals, along with other beautiful forest-themed paper sculptures.

Onewheel

The UK premiere workshop of this incredibly exciting new equipment from the USA. Be one of the first people ever on this island to try this futuristic board, not too dissimilar to the hoverboards from Back to the Future. Learn the basics of how to balance and manouvre on the board before making your way around a course on the field.

Nipple Tassels

Create your own nipple tassels! A cheeky, sparkly activity guaranteed to make you giggle and bring a little bit of burlesque glamour into your weekend.

Mountain Boarding

An exciting new addition for 2023! Imagine snowboarding, but on a grassy hill with 4×4 wheeled boards. Learn the basics on gentle slopes and if you pick it up fast, you can work your way up to trying ramps and tricks!
